Proposed Mid County Park Proposed Mid-County Park

Mid-County Park:
James City County Parks & Recreation Department, James City County, VA.
Greensprings Landscape Architecture was pleased to offer pro-bono design
services to the JCC Parks & Recreation Division in developing the Master Plan
for Mid-County Park. Hosting nearly 300,000 annual visitors, Mid County Park
actually opened in 1985 but was never officially programed. As a result of this
master plan, Mid-County Park is currently experiencing a major transformation.
A new playground (locally known as “Kidsburg”) is under construction and
additional improvements are planned including a new park office building with
restrooms and classrooms; additional picnic shelters; designated open space for
passive recreation; and reoriented parking to accommodate buses. Greensprings
Landscape Architecture worked with many stakeholders during the development
of the master plan, including JCC’s Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission,
Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission, and citizens.

Williamsburg Village at Norge Williamsburg Village at Norge

The Williamsburg Village at Norge: The Williamsburg Village at Norge is an
84-unit townhouse neighborhood designed by Mr. Basic (while under previous
employment.) A major element of the master plan is the central open space
serving multiple functions: a passive recreation area for the residents which is
sited over highly permeable soils which allows for the natural absorption of rain
water (thus, reducing the dependence on stormwater management).
